L.A. Rams Quarterback Has A Relationship With His Wife That’s Leaving Fans Inspired

Matthew Stafford has one of the best arms in NFL history — but over the years, fans have learned that his wife Kelly is the support that steadies the arm. The couple have an inspiring relationship, and they’ve weathered some extremely rough storms. From on-the-field issues to concerns at home, the Staffords have seen it all.

Support system

They say that behind every great man there’s a great woman, and this is certainly the case for Stafford. He has always maintained that Kelly and their children are his support system, telling The Los Angeles Times, “They’re everything to me.” It’s clear that Stafford’s family give him the foundation needed for his huge success in football.

So appreciative

In fact, he has waxed lyrical about Kelly’s unconditional support when it comes to his career. He has praised her readiness to pick up and move their life when he was drafted to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, musing, “I’m just so appreciative and in awe of that. I don’t know if I could have done the same thing if I was in her shoes.”

The Georgia days

These days, the Staffords are happily married and madly in love, but it wasn’t always this way. They met in 2007 while studying at the University of Georgia, but it took until 2009 for them to date. These early days of courtship weren’t exactly smooth, as Kelly revealed in an interview on WFAN Sports Radio’s Carton & Roberts.

Tough early days

“Matthew and I had a little fun in college,” Kelly explained. “Obviously, college relationships are tough, and when I first met Matthew, he wanted no relationship at all. He wanted to have fun, and I was not that type of person. I always loved Matthew, and I told myself I had to move on because this isn’t happening.”
